Connect Instagram: with or without a Facebook Page

Instagram only lets apps publish to professional accounts (Business or Creator). PostWire can connect one in two ways: through a Facebook Page linked to it, or by logging in with Instagram directly, with no Page at all.

Before anything: make the account professional

In the Instagram app: Profile → ☰ → Settings and activity → Account type and tools → Switch to professional account, then pick Creator or Business. Personal accounts cannot be published to by any tool — this is Meta's rule, not ours.

Option 1 · Log in with Instagram (no Facebook Page)

Rolling out

1. In PostWire: Accounts → Connect account → Instagram, choose "Log in with Instagram — no Facebook Page needed", click Connect with Instagram.
2. Instagram opens. Log in with the account you want to publish to and click Allow.
3. You come back to PostWire with the account connected.

If Instagram shows the wrong account, log out of it on instagram.com first and try again — Instagram connects whichever account is logged in in that browser.

Option 2 · Through a Facebook Page

Available to everyone

1. Link your Instagram professional account to a Facebook Page you manage (see below).
2. In PostWire: Accounts → Connect account → Instagram → Through a Facebook Page → Connect with Instagram.
3. On Facebook's screen, click Edit settings and select only the Page and the Instagram account you want. If you manage several Pages with Instagram, PostWire will not guess: it asks you to pick one.

Linking Instagram to a Facebook Page

From the Instagram app (most reliable): Profile → Edit profile → Page → Connect or create → choose your Page.

From Facebook on a computer: switch into your Page's profile → Settings → Linked accounts → Instagram → Connect account.

"Something went wrong" / "Couldn't add your Page and Instagram account"

This is Meta's error, and it happens a lot with new accounts. What actually fixes it, in order:

Cause	Fix
The Instagram account is still personal	Switch to professional first (top of this page), then link.
It is already linked to another (or a deleted) Page	Instagram → Edit profile → Page → disconnect it, then connect the right one. Instagram allows one Page at a time.
You are not an admin of the Page	An admin must give you full control of the Page, then retry.
Linking from Accounts Center fails	Do it from the Instagram app (Edit profile → Page) instead — it uses a different path.
Brand-new account, nothing works	Skip the Page entirely: use Option 1 · Log in with Instagram.
