PostWire Privacy Policy

PostWire ("we") provides an API and MCP service that lets users and their AI agents publish and schedule content to third-party social media platforms they connect.

What we collect

Account data: email and authentication info to operate your account.
Connected-platform tokens: OAuth access/refresh tokens for platforms you explicitly connect (e.g. TikTok, Instagram, YouTube). These are stored encrypted and used only to publish the content you request.
Content you submit: the text, captions, and media you ask us to publish, plus delivery status/metadata.
Usage data: request logs and basic analytics to run and secure the service.

How we use it

Solely to: authenticate you, publish/schedule the content you request to the platforms you connect, return status and analytics, and operate, secure, and improve the service. We do not sell your data.

Third-party platforms

When you connect a platform, your use of that platform is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. PostWire acts on your behalf only to perform actions you initiate.

Facebook & Instagram (Meta) data

If you connect a Facebook Page or an Instagram professional account, PostWire requests only the permissions needed to publish the content you submit to your own connected accounts. We use information received from the Meta APIs strictly as follows:

instagram_basic — read your connected Instagram professional account's basic profile (id, username) to identify which account to publish to. Stored: account id/username. Purpose: account identification. Retention: until you disconnect.
instagram_content_publish — publish the photos, videos, Reels and captions you submit to your own connected Instagram account. We never publish anything you did not explicitly send. Stored: the content you submit + post status.
pages_manage_posts — publish the posts you submit to the Facebook Page you connect. Purpose: publishing on your behalf.
pages_read_engagement / pages_show_list — list the Pages you manage so you can choose which one to connect and confirm the connection. Stored: Page id/name of the Page you select.

We do not access your messages, ads, audience lists, insights, or any content beyond what is required to publish what you submit, and we never sell or share this data. PostWire's use and transfer of information received from Meta APIs adheres to the Meta Platform Terms and Meta Developer Policies.

AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP clients)

You can connect PostWire to an AI assistant through our MCP server (https://postwire.io/api/mcp), signing in with OAuth or an API key. When you do:

What we receive: only the arguments of the PostWire tools the assistant calls (for example the post text, the platforms and media links you asked it to publish). We never receive or read your conversation, chat history, memory or files.
What we store: the connection (which app, when, the permissions you granted) and the access and refresh tokens, stored only as one-way hashes. Access tokens expire after 1 hour; refresh tokens rotate on every use and expire after 60 days without use.
What we share: nothing with the assistant's provider beyond the tool results you asked for. If you ask PostWire to write drafts, the idea you give it is sent to our AI model provider (Anthropic) solely to generate the text, and is not used to train models.
Revoking access: disconnect the app in your assistant, or ask us at privacy@postwire.io; deleting your PostWire account removes every connection and token.

Data retention & deletion

You can disconnect any platform or delete your account at any time, which revokes stored tokens and removes the associated data. We process deletion requests within 30 days.

Photos and videos you upload are deleted automatically: the day after the last scheduled post that uses them is published, or 7 days after upload when no post uses them (2 days on the Free plan; files of a post sent right away go the next day; 30 days at most, unless a scheduled post still waits for them).

Security

Tokens and secrets are encrypted at rest. Access is restricted to operating the service.
