YouTube Shorts title and description checker
Write the title and description, and see them the way the Shorts feed shows them: the first 40 or so characters of the title, the hashtags, and every rule that would get the upload refused or the words ignored.
Free, no signup. Made by PostWire, which writes a native post for each network and publishes it to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook Pages, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram and Discord (X on paid plans). Updated .
How it works
- Type the title and description
Optionally the keyword people would search. Checked in your browser as you type.
- Look at the phone preview
The Shorts feed shows about the first 40 characters of the title over the video: the words that make someone stop must be there.
- Fix the red and amber lines
Too long, characters YouTube refuses (< and >), the keyword too late, too many hashtags, links that will not be clickable.
Questions people ask
How long can a YouTube Shorts title be?
100 characters, like any YouTube title. The Shorts feed shows about the first 40 over the video, so put the hook and the keyword first.
Do I need #Shorts in the title?
No. YouTube makes a Short of any vertical or square video up to 3 minutes. #Shorts does no harm, but it takes room in a 40-character window.
How many hashtags can a Short have?
Past 60, YouTube ignores all of them. A few specific ones are better; the first 3 can show above the title.
Are links in a Shorts description clickable?
No. YouTube made links in Shorts descriptions and comments unclickable in 2023. Link a related video instead, or put the link on your channel.
Can PostWire publish my Shorts?
Yes. PostWire uploads a vertical video to YouTube as a Short (up to 1 GB) with its title, description and tags, and the same video to TikTok and Instagram Reels with a caption written for each.
Then publish it everywhere, from one place.
PostWire writes a different post for each network from one idea and publishes or schedules them together, from a dashboard, Claude or ChatGPT, n8n, Make, Zapier or a REST API. Every network connects free; the free plan needs no card.
