How to post to LinkedIn from ChatGPT, and schedule the posts
https://postwire.io/api/mcp) you connect your LinkedIn profile once, approve the post ChatGPT writes with generate_posts (the hook in the first 210 characters, the link in the first comment), and it publishes with post_to_social or schedules with schedule_post, up to 365 days ahead. PostWire is not in ChatGPT's app directory yet (submitted to OpenAI's review on Sept 27, 2026), so today you add it as a custom connector in developer mode; in Claude it is already in the connector directory. It posts to your personal LinkedIn profile through LinkedIn's official API, and the free plan covers it: 1 business, 10 posts a month, 5 AI drafts a day, 2 networks per post, no card.A scheduled post goes out from PostWire's servers with ChatGPT closed. ChatGPT never sees your LinkedIn password: you sign in on LinkedIn's own page and allow PostWire to post as you.
Updated . Written from PostWire's own code; vendor prices read on Oct 21, 2026. Live networks: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn (personal profiles), Facebook Pages, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Discord, and X on paid plans.
Set it up and post, step by step
Prompt to copy once LinkedIn is connected: Write a LinkedIn post about the three things we learned launching our pricing page, show it to me, and schedule it for Tuesday at 8:30 my time.
- Add PostWire as a custom connector
If your ChatGPT plan offers developer mode, turn it on under Settings → Security and login, then under Settings → Connectors add a custom connector with the URL
https://postwire.io/api/mcpand sign in when asked (OAuth). Menu names in ChatGPT change often; OpenAI's help page has the current path. PostWire is not in ChatGPT's app directory yet (submitted to OpenAI's review on Sept 27, 2026). Not available on your plan? Use PostWire in Claude, where it is in the connector directory. - Sign in with your email
A 6-digit code creates your free PostWire account inside the sign-in window: no password and no card. ChatGPT asks you to confirm a write action such as publishing before it runs.
- Connect your LinkedIn profile
Ask "connect my LinkedIn". The connector calls
create_connect_linkand returns a one-hour link; open it, sign in on LinkedIn's own page and press Allow. PostWire asks LinkedIn only for permission to post as you (w_member_social), plus your name and photo to show which profile is connected. - Ask for the post
"Write a LinkedIn post about the bug we fixed today."
generate_postsreturns a draft and publishes nothing. It is written for LinkedIn: first person, the hook in the first 210 characters (about two lines, what the feed shows before "see more"), short paragraphs, up to 3 hashtags at the end and a question to close. A link goes in the first comment, not in the body, where LinkedIn shows it less. Ask for changes in plain words until it reads right, or for the Facebook and Bluesky versions in the same message. - Add images or a PDF carousel, if you want them
Up to 20 images in one post, or one PDF (or PowerPoint or Word file) on its own, which LinkedIn shows as a document you swipe through. A file attached to the chat does not reach a connector, so ask for an upload page (
create_upload_link, up to 100 MB on the free plan and 1 GB on paid plans) and pick the files there, or give a public https link. - Publish now, or schedule it
Say "post it" and the assistant calls
post_to_social; the result carries the link to the live post and the first comment's status. Say "schedule it for Tuesday at 8:30" and it callsschedule_post, up to 365 days ahead, or withrun_at: "next_slot"for your next free posting hour. This is the call:{ "name": "schedule_post", "arguments": { "platforms": ["linkedin"], "per_platform": { "linkedin": { "text": "We cut our onboarding from 9 steps to 3.\n\nThe fix was not a new design. …", "first_comment": "The full write-up: https://example.com/blog/onboarding-in-3-steps" } }, "run_at": "2026-10-27T08:30:00-05:00" } } - Check the queue
"What's scheduled on LinkedIn?" calls
list_scheduled_postsand "cancel Tuesday's post" callscancel_scheduled_post; the same queue is on the dashboard's Queue page.
Nothing is published before you say yes: the assistant shows the exact text first, and ChatGPT asks you to confirm the write action. Prefer to set it up by hand first? Open the dashboard, connect the account under Accounts and copy your key under API & MCP.

Where PostWire is ahead
- The post is written for LinkedIn:
generate_postsputs the hook in the first 210 characters, keeps the link out of the body and in the first comment, and writes every other network's version from the same idea in the same request. - 10 posts a month on the free plan, without a card and without a time limit. Postiz starts with a 7-day trial, and Upload-Post's free plan has 10 uploads a month.
- The cheapest paid plan here: $9 a month for 3 businesses. Upload-Post $24, Postiz and Hermoso $29.
- The next free slot: "put it in my next free slot" queues the post in your next open weekly posting hour.
- A person approves what ChatGPT queued: on paid plans, approval rules hold the post until you approve it from an emailed link.
- The same connector in Claude and Claude Code, where it is already in the connector directory, with the same profile and the same queue.
- Postiz — Postiz in ChatGPT ("Add the official Postiz app from the ChatGPT directory in one click, or turn on Developer mode and paste the MCP link as a custom connector", https://mcp.postiz.com/mcp-oauth-dynamic): postiz.com/chatgpt
- Postiz pricing ("Start with a 7-day free trial"; Standard $29 a month, 5 channels): postiz.com/pricing

What to say in ChatGPT, and what LinkedIn receives
| You say | The connector calls | Your profile receives |
|---|---|---|
| "Post this on my LinkedIn" | generate_posts, then post_to_social | A text post, with the link in the first comment |
| "Post these four photos" | post_to_social with four items in media | One post with four images |
| "Post this PDF as a carousel" | post_to_social with the document | A document post readers swipe through |
| "Schedule it for Tuesday at 8:30" | schedule_post with run_at | The same post, at that time |
| "What do I have scheduled?" | list_scheduled_posts | Nothing — it reads your queue |
| "Send the same news to Facebook and Bluesky" | generate_posts, then post_to_social with three networks | Its own post; the other two get theirs |

Can ChatGPT schedule LinkedIn posts? Yes, and here is what the queue takes
- Any time up to 365 days ahead: tell the assistant your time zone once and it sends the hour with its offset.
- Your next free slot: set your weekly posting hours in the dashboard and "next free slot" fills them in order.
- 3 posts waiting at once on the free plan, out of its 10 posts a month; paid plans (from $9 a month) lift that limit.
- Published without ChatGPT: the queued post is stored by PostWire and goes out at its time, first comment included.
- A person can have the last word: on paid plans, a brand's approval rules hold what ChatGPT queues until you approve it from an emailed link. ChatGPT cannot approve its own post.
LinkedIn's rules ChatGPT works within
- Up to 3,000 characters in the post and 1,250 in the first comment. If the first comment fails, the post stays published and the comment is retried.
- Images or a document, not both: 1 to 20 images, or one PDF, PowerPoint or Word file on its own.
- Your personal profile, through LinkedIn's official API and the permission you grant on LinkedIn's own page. No browser automation, which LinkedIn restricts accounts for.
What it does not do
PostWire posts to personal LinkedIn profiles. It does not post to company pages, it does not upload video to LinkedIn, and it does not read or answer comments or messages. To post a video, send it to TikTok, Instagram or YouTube in the same request.
Questions people ask
Can ChatGPT post to LinkedIn?
Not by itself. ChatGPT writes the post, and a connector with its own LinkedIn app publishes it. With PostWire's connector (https://postwire.io/api/mcp) added in developer mode and your LinkedIn profile connected once, ChatGPT writes, publishes and schedules posts on your profile when you ask.
Can ChatGPT schedule LinkedIn posts?
Yes. It calls schedule_post with a time up to 365 days ahead, or "next_slot" for your next free posting hour, and PostWire publishes the post at that time with ChatGPT closed. The free plan keeps 3 posts waiting at once; paid plans have no such limit.
Is PostWire in ChatGPT's app directory?
Not yet. It was submitted to OpenAI's review on Sept 27, 2026. Until it is listed, it works where ChatGPT allows a custom connector (developer mode) with the URL https://postwire.io/api/mcp, and it is already listed in Claude's connector directory.
Do I need a LinkedIn developer app or API key?
No. PostWire's own LinkedIn app does the posting: you sign in on LinkedIn's own page and allow PostWire to post as you. ChatGPT holds only a PostWire sign-in, made with your email and a 6-digit code.
Can it post to a LinkedIn company page?
No. PostWire posts to personal LinkedIn profiles. It can send the same idea to a Facebook Page, X, Bluesky or the other networks in the same request.
Can I post a PDF carousel or images from ChatGPT?
Yes. One PDF, PowerPoint or Word file is posted as a LinkedIn document readers swipe through, or up to 20 images in one post. Files attached to the chat do not reach connectors, so they travel through an upload link. Video is not posted to LinkedIn.
How much does it cost?
The free plan includes LinkedIn and the connector: 1 business, 10 posts a month, 5 AI drafts a day, 2 networks per post, no card. Starter is $9 a month for 3 businesses and Pro $29 for 10, with every network in each post; nothing is charged from the chat — an upgrade link opens a Stripe page.
