How to post to Facebook from ChatGPT, and schedule the posts
https://postwire.io/api/mcp) you tick your Facebook Page once, approve the post ChatGPT writes, and it publishes it with post_to_social or schedules it with schedule_post, up to 365 days ahead, as text, a photo or a video. PostWire is not in ChatGPT's app directory yet (submitted to OpenAI's review on Sept 27, 2026), so today you add it as a custom connector in developer mode; in Claude it is already in the connector directory. The free plan includes Facebook Pages and the connector: 1 business, 10 posts a month, 5 AI drafts a day, 2 networks per post, no card.Facebook lets no app post to a personal profile, so ChatGPT posts to a Page you manage. Scheduled posts go out from PostWire's servers, with ChatGPT and your computer closed, through Facebook's official Graph API; ChatGPT never sees your Facebook password.
Updated . Written from PostWire's own code; vendor prices read on Oct 21, 2026. Live networks: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn (personal profiles), Facebook Pages, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Discord, and X on paid plans.
Set it up and post, step by step
Prompt to copy once your Page is connected: Write a Facebook post about our Saturday open day, show it to me, and schedule it for Friday at 9:00 New York time.
- Add PostWire as a custom connector
If your ChatGPT plan offers developer mode, turn it on under Settings → Security and login, then under Settings → Connectors add a custom connector with the URL
https://postwire.io/api/mcpand sign in when asked (OAuth). Menu names in ChatGPT change often; OpenAI's help page has the current path. PostWire is not in ChatGPT's app directory yet (submitted to OpenAI's review on Sept 27, 2026). Not available on your plan? Use PostWire in Claude, where it is in the connector directory. - Sign in with your email
A 6-digit code creates your free PostWire account inside the sign-in window: no password and no card. ChatGPT asks you to confirm a write action such as publishing before it runs.
- Connect your Facebook Page
Ask "connect my Facebook Page". The connector calls
create_connect_linkand returns a one-hour link. Facebook shows "Continue as <your name>", then asks which Pages PostWire may use: tick the Page you want to post to and press Save. Pages you manage directly and Pages inside a Business Portfolio both appear. No Page yet? Create one at facebook.com/pages/create first. - Ask for the post
"Write a Facebook post about our Saturday open day."
generate_postsreturns a draft and publishes nothing. It is written for Facebook: 40 to 80 characters when the idea allows and under 250 otherwise, the hook in the first 125 characters (where the mobile feed cuts), 1 to 3 hashtags, and a link can stay in the body. Ask for the Instagram or LinkedIn version in the same message and each comes back written for that network. - Add a photo or a video, if you want one
A file attached to a ChatGPT message does not reach a connector, so ask for an upload link:
create_upload_linkreturns a page where you pick the file on the phone or laptop that has it (up to 100 MB on the free plan and 1 GB on paid plans); say "uploaded" and the assistant reads it withget_uploaded_file. A public https link to an image or a video works too. - Publish now, or schedule it
Say "post it" and the assistant calls
post_to_social. Say "schedule it for Friday at 9:00 New York time" and it callsschedule_postwith that time; "put it in my next free slot" usesrun_at: "next_slot". This is the call:{ "name": "schedule_post", "arguments": { "platforms": ["facebook"], "per_platform": { "facebook": { "text": "Open day this Saturday, 10 to 2. Coffee is on us ☕ #openday" } }, "photo_url": "https://postwire.io/m/…/open-day.jpg", "run_at": "2026-10-23T09:00:00-04:00" } } - Check the queue, and open the post
"What's scheduled on Facebook?" calls
list_scheduled_posts, and "cancel Friday's post" callscancel_scheduled_post. Once a post is out, the result carries its link (https://facebook.com/…) and the Page it went to, andget_post_performanceranks your Facebook posts by reactions, comments and shares.
Nothing is published before you say yes: the assistant shows the exact text first, and ChatGPT asks you to confirm the write action. The same queue is on the dashboard's Queue page, with Reschedule and Cancel. Prefer to set it up by hand first? Open the dashboard, connect the account under Accounts and copy your key under API & MCP.

Where PostWire is ahead
- The post is written for Facebook, and so is every other network's version:
generate_poststurns one idea into a short Facebook post, an Instagram caption and a LinkedIn post in one request. - 10 posts a month on the free plan, without a card and without a time limit. Postiz starts with a 7-day trial, and Upload-Post's free plan has 10 uploads a month.
- The cheapest paid plan here: $9 a month for 3 businesses. Upload-Post $24, Postiz and Hermoso $29.
- Scheduling from the chat: a day and an hour, or "my next free slot", and PostWire publishes at that time with ChatGPT closed.
- A person approves what ChatGPT queued: on paid plans, approval rules hold the post until you approve it from an emailed link.
- The same connector in Claude, where it is already in the connector directory, with the same Page and the same queue.
- Postiz — Postiz in ChatGPT ("Add the official Postiz app from the ChatGPT directory in one click, or turn on Developer mode and paste the MCP link as a custom connector", https://mcp.postiz.com/mcp-oauth-dynamic): postiz.com/chatgpt
- Postiz pricing ("Start with a 7-day free trial"; Standard $29 a month, 5 channels): postiz.com/pricing
- Hermoso — Post to Facebook from ChatGPT (in ChatGPT's app directory; custom connector https://app.hermoso.ai/mcp; "post it to your Facebook Page, or hold it unpublished for review"): hermoso.ai/chatgpt/facebook
- Hermoso pricing ("free to start, then $29, $69 or $149 a month"; Free with 250+ credits, no card): hermoso.ai/pricing
- Upload-Post — Post to Social Media with ChatGPT ("a reviewed app in the ChatGPT directory"; 50 tools; 22 social networks): www.upload-post.com/chatgpt-social-media/
- Upload-Post plans (llms-full.txt: Free 2 profiles, 10 uploads a month; Basic $24 a month, 5 profiles): www.upload-post.com/llms-full.txt
What to say in ChatGPT, and what Facebook receives
| You say | The connector calls | Your Page receives |
|---|---|---|
| "Post this on our Facebook Page" | generate_posts, then post_to_social | A text post |
| "Post this photo with a caption about the new menu" | post_to_social with photo_url | A photo post with the text as its caption |
| "Post this video" | post_to_social with video_url | A video post with the text as its description |
| "Schedule it for Friday at 9" | schedule_post with run_at | The same post, at that time |
| "What do I have scheduled?" | list_scheduled_posts | Nothing — it reads your queue |
| "Send the same news to Instagram and LinkedIn" | generate_posts, then post_to_social with three networks | Its own short post; the other two get theirs |

Can ChatGPT schedule Facebook posts? Yes, and here is what the queue takes
- Any time up to 365 days ahead: tell the assistant your time zone once ("I'm in Chicago") and it sends the hour with its offset.
- Your next free slot: set your weekly posting hours in the dashboard and "next free slot" fills them in order.
- 3 posts waiting at once on the free plan, out of its 10 posts a month; paid plans (from $9 a month) lift that limit.
- Published without ChatGPT: the queued post is stored by PostWire and goes out at its time. Nothing has to stay open.
- A person can have the last word: on paid plans, a brand's approval rules hold what ChatGPT queues until you approve it from an emailed link. ChatGPT cannot approve its own post.
- The same idea on Instagram too: Instagram offers Log in with Instagram (no Facebook Page needed) or through a Facebook Page you manage. One request with both networks gets each its own text.
Facebook's rules ChatGPT works within
- Pages, not personal profiles: Facebook lets no app post to a personal profile, so the connector posts to a Page you manage.
- What a post can be: text alone, a photo with its caption, or a video with its description.
- What Facebook asks you to allow: listing your Pages, creating posts on them and reading their engagement (
pages_show_list,pages_manage_posts,pages_read_engagement), plusbusiness_managementso a Page inside a Business Portfolio can be found. - Reels and Stories go through PostWire's REST API with
options.facebook.post_type, with the same account: see network options.
What it does not do
ChatGPT with PostWire publishes and schedules posts on your Facebook Page. It does not post to personal profiles or Groups, it does not read or answer comments or Messenger conversations, and it does not create ads.
Questions people ask
Can ChatGPT post to Facebook?
Not by itself. ChatGPT writes the post, and a connector with an approved Meta app publishes it. With PostWire's connector (https://postwire.io/api/mcp) added in developer mode and your Facebook Page ticked once, ChatGPT publishes text, photo and video posts to the Page when you ask.
Can ChatGPT schedule Facebook posts?
Yes. Ask for a day and an hour and the connector calls schedule_post with that time, up to 365 days ahead, or with "next_slot" for your next free posting hour. PostWire publishes the post at its time, with ChatGPT closed. The free plan keeps 3 posts waiting at once.
Is PostWire in ChatGPT's app directory?
Not yet. It was submitted to OpenAI's review on Sept 27, 2026. Until it is listed, it works where ChatGPT allows a custom connector (developer mode) with the URL https://postwire.io/api/mcp, and it is already listed in Claude's connector directory.
Can ChatGPT post to my personal Facebook profile or a Group?
No. Facebook lets no app post to a personal profile, and PostWire does not post to Groups. ChatGPT posts to a Facebook Page you manage.
Does ChatGPT get my Facebook password?
No. You approve PostWire on Facebook's own screen and tick the Page it may use. ChatGPT holds only a PostWire sign-in, and you can disconnect the Page in the dashboard or in Facebook's settings at any time.
Why doesn't the photo I attached in ChatGPT reach Facebook?
Files attached to a chat message are not passed to connectors. Ask for an upload link, open it on the device that has the file, then tell the assistant it is uploaded.
Do I need a Facebook Page to post to Instagram too?
No developer app: you connect to PostWire's approved Meta app. No Facebook Page either if you choose Log in with Instagram; the account must be a Business or Creator account.
How much does it cost?
The free plan includes Facebook Pages and the connector: 1 business, 10 posts a month, 5 AI drafts a day, 2 networks per post, no card. Starter is $9 a month for 3 businesses and Pro $29 for 10, with every network in each post; nothing is charged from the chat — an upgrade link opens a Stripe page.
Try it on one business, free.
The free plan is 1 business, 10 posts a month, 5 AI drafts a day (about 20 a month) and 2 networks per post — every network connects free, no card, no time limit.
