Facebook MCP server: let Claude or any agent post to your Facebook Page

The Facebook MCP server URL is https://postwire.io/api/mcp: add it to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client, connect your Facebook Page once, and the agent publishes a text post, a photo with its caption or a video to the Page with post_to_social, or queues it with schedule_post. PostWire posts through Facebook's official Graph API with its own Meta app, so you create no Facebook developer app and go through no App Review. The free plan includes Facebook Pages and the MCP server: 1 business, 20 posts a month, 5 AI drafts a day, 2 networks per post, no card.

It publishes posts to a Page you manage. The text can be yours or written for Facebook by generate_posts: short, the hook in the first 125 characters, a warm tone and one to three hashtags.

Updated . Written from PostWire's own code; vendor prices read on Oct 9, 2026. Live networks: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn (personal profiles), Facebook Pages, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Discord, and X on paid plans.

Set it up and post, step by step

  1. Add PostWire's MCP server to your agent

    In Claude, open PostWire in the connector directory and press Connect. Anywhere else, add the remote server https://postwire.io/api/mcp (Streamable HTTP; OAuth sign-in or an API key) — in Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http postwire https://postwire.io/api/mcp. Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Codex and Gemini CLI configs: MCP client configs.

  2. Sign in with your email

    The first time the agent uses a PostWire tool, a sign-in window asks for your email and a 6-digit code; that also creates a free PostWire account if you have none. No password and no card. Agents that cannot do OAuth send an API key instead (dashboard → API & MCP → Copy key).

  3. Connect your Facebook Page

    Ask "connect my Facebook Page". The agent calls create_connect_link and gives you a one-hour link. Facebook shows "Continue as <your name>", then asks which Pages PostWire may use: tick the Page you want to post to and press Save. Pages you manage directly and Pages inside a Business Portfolio both appear. PostWire never sees your Facebook password.

  4. Let PostWire write the post

    "Write a Facebook post about our Saturday open day, and an Instagram caption for the same photo." generate_posts returns one draft per network and publishes nothing. Facebook's draft is short — 40 to 80 characters when the idea allows, under 250 otherwise — with the hook in the first 125 characters (where the mobile feed cuts), 1 to 3 hashtags and no "like if you agree" bait. A link can stay in the body.

  5. Add a photo or a video, if you want one

    Pass a public https link as photo_url or video_url. A file on your phone or laptop gets there through create_upload_link: a 24-hour page where you pick the file (up to 250 MB on the free plan and 1 GB on paid plans), then get_uploaded_file returns its media_url. Chat attachments never reach an MCP server, so this is how your own photo gets there.

  6. Publish, or schedule it

    After you approve the draft, the agent calls post_to_social (or schedule_post with a run_at time, or "next_slot" for your next free queue slot). A photo post to the Page looks like this:

    {
      "name": "post_to_social",
      "arguments": {
        "platforms": ["facebook"],
        "per_platform": { "facebook": { "text": "Open day this Saturday, 10 to 2. Coffee is on us ☕ #openday" } },
        "photo_url": "https://postwire.io/m/…/open-day.jpg"
      }
    }
  7. Open the post

    The result carries the post's id, its link (https://facebook.com/…) and the Page it went to. list_scheduled_posts shows what is still queued and cancel_scheduled_post removes one before it goes out.

Reels and Stories go through the REST API: POST /api/post or POST /api/schedule with "options": {"facebook": {"post_type": "reels"}} (needs a video) or "story" (a photo or a video). See network options. Prefer to set it up by hand first? Open the dashboard, connect the account under Accounts and copy your key under API & MCP.

Where PostWire is ahead

  • The post is written for Facebook, and so is every other network's version: generate_posts turns one idea into a short Facebook post, an Instagram caption and a LinkedIn post in one call.
  • 20 posts a month on the free plan, without a card. Upload-Post's free plan has 10 uploads a month; Blotato's MCP access is not part of its 7-day trial.
  • No password and no key to start: the sign-in window asks for your email and a 6-digit code, and that creates the free account too.
  • Facebook plus nine more networks in the same call: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Discord, and X on paid plans.
  • Approvals on every paid plan (from $9 a month): a post can wait until a person approves each network's version.

Facebook's rules the agent works within

  • Pages, not personal profiles: Facebook lets no app post to a personal profile, so the agent posts to a Page you manage. No Page yet? Create one at facebook.com/pages/create, then connect it.
  • What a post can be: text alone, a photo with its caption, or a video with its description. When the agent sends several images, the Page post carries the first one.
  • What Facebook asks you to allow: listing your Pages, creating posts on them and reading their engagement (pages_show_list, pages_manage_posts, pages_read_engagement), plus business_management so a Page that lives in a Business Portfolio can be found.
  • Reels and Stories: a Reel needs a video; a Story takes a photo or a video. Facebook fetches the video from its link, and when it cannot, PostWire uploads the file to Facebook itself and says so in the result. Facebook processes a Reel after it receives it, so the first answer says processing.
  • The same photo or video to Instagram: Instagram connects through the Facebook Page it is linked to, so the same sign-in screen is where you tick your Instagram account. One post_to_social call with ["facebook", "instagram"] sends each its own text.

What it does not do

PostWire publishes and schedules posts on your Facebook Page. It does not post to personal profiles or Groups, it is not a Facebook Ads or Marketplace server, and it does not read or answer comments or Messenger conversations. Reels and Stories are published through the REST API, not through the MCP tools.

Questions people ask

What is the Facebook MCP server URL?

https://postwire.io/api/mcp. It is a hosted remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) with OAuth sign-in or an API key; add it to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP client and connect your Facebook Page once.

Is there an official Facebook MCP server for posting?

PostWire is not made by Meta. It is a hosted MCP server that publishes through Facebook's official Graph API with Facebook's own sign-in screen, so no cookie, password or browser automation is involved.

Does it work with Claude?

Yes. PostWire is in Claude's connector directory: press Connect, sign in with your email and ask Claude to connect your Facebook Page. Claude Code adds it with: claude mcp add --transport http postwire https://postwire.io/api/mcp.

Can it post to my personal Facebook profile or a Group?

No. Facebook lets no app post to a personal profile, and PostWire does not post to Groups. It publishes to a Facebook Page you manage.

Do I need a Facebook developer app or App Review?

No. You connect your Page to PostWire's Meta app on Facebook's own screen and tick the Page it may use. Registering a developer app and passing App Review is the step you skip.

Can the agent post Reels or Stories to the Page?

The MCP tools publish text, photo and video posts to the Page. Reels and Stories are published through PostWire's REST API with options.facebook.post_type set to reels or story, with the same account and the same key.

Is this a Facebook Ads MCP server?

No. PostWire publishes and schedules organic posts on your Page. It does not create or manage ad campaigns.

How much does it cost?

The free plan includes Facebook Pages and the MCP server: 1 business, 20 posts a month, 5 AI drafts a day, 2 networks per post, no card. Starter is $9 a month for 3 businesses and Pro $29 for 10, with every network in each post; paid plans have a 14-day refund.
