How to set up recurring social media posts

To set up a recurring social media post in PostWire, open Automate → Recurring, pick the networks, write the text (and other versions of it), choose daily, weekly or monthly with the days and times, and press Start it. PostWire puts each occurrence in your queue up to 7 days ahead as an ordinary scheduled post you can edit or cancel on its own, uses your text versions in turn, and skips a network where the same words went out in the last 3 days. Recurring posts are on every paid plan, from $9 a month with 25 at a time.

The same rule works from the API (POST /api/recurring), and from an AI assistant through the MCP tool create_recurring_post. Every occurrence goes through your approval rules and your plan's limits like any post.

Updated . Written from PostWire's own code; vendor prices read on Oct 16, 2026. Live networks: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn (personal profiles), Facebook Pages, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Discord, and X on paid plans.

Set up a recurring post, step by step

Example: a weekly tip every Monday at 09:00 in Lima, on LinkedIn and Bluesky, with three versions of the text so followers do not see the same words each week.

  1. Open Automate → Recurring

    In the dashboard, open Automate in the menu and the Recurring tab. Connect the networks you want first under Accounts: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook Pages, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Discord, and X on paid plans.

  2. Pick the networks and write the text

    Tick the networks. Write the post, then press + Add a version for each other way of saying it: versions are used in turn (1, 2, 3, 1…), up to 50. From the API, a photo or a video can go with it (photo_url, video_url) for the networks that need one.

  3. Choose how it repeats

    Under Repeats pick Daily, Weekly (and the weekdays) or Monthly (and the days of the month, for example 1, 15, last; the 31st falls on the last day of shorter months). Set Times (1-4 a day, for example 09:00, 17:30), the Timezone, and Every for every 2, 3 or 4 days, weeks or months.

  4. Choose when it starts and ends

    Starts is the first day. Ends: Never, On a date, or After a number of posts. Daylight saving is handled the way calendars do it: 09:00 stays 09:00 local time all year.

  5. Set the duplicate guard and a name

    The Duplicate guard (off, 1, 3, 7, 14 or 30 days; 3 by default) skips a network where the same text went out in the last days you pick, because networks flag repeated posts and X refuses them. Name in the queue is how the occurrences show in your queue, for example "Monday tip".

  6. Check the next posts and start it

    The Next posts preview lists the coming dates with the text version each one will use. Press Start it. The first occurrences appear in your Queue, marked Repeats · #1, and each can be edited or canceled alone.

  7. Or do the same from the API

    One request sets up the rule; the answer lists the next occurrences and any warnings (for example, one text every day with a 3-day guard would be skipped):

    curl -X POST "https://postwire.io/api/recurring" \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer $POSTWIRE_API_KEY" \
      -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
      -d '{
      "platforms": ["linkedin", "bluesky"],
      "variants": [
        "Monday tip: grind right before you brew.",
        "Monday tip: weigh your coffee, 1:16 is a good start.",
        "Monday tip: water just off the boil."
      ],
      "rule": { "freq": "weekly", "days": ["mon"], "times": ["09:00"], "timezone": "America/Lima" },
      "guard_days": 7,
      "label": "Monday tip"
    }'

PATCH /api/recurring/{id} pauses, resumes or edits every waiting occurrence (except the ones you edited by hand); DELETE stops it and cancels what is waiting. All fields: Bulk upload, recurring posts and RSS.

Where PostWire is ahead

  • Text versions on the $9 plan: up to 50 versions used in turn. RecurPost lists post variations from its $25 Personal plan.
  • A duplicate guard: a network where the same words went out in the last days you choose is skipped and the result says why, so the same text does not go out twice in a row.
  • Every occurrence is a real queued post: you see it in the queue up to 7 days ahead and can edit or cancel one without touching the rest.
  • Built in, no plugin: no WordPress site or third-party add-on needed, and the same rule can be set from the dashboard, the API or an AI assistant.
  • Up to 4 times a day, monthly on the last day, every N weeks, in your timezone, with daylight saving handled.

What to repeat, and what not to

  • Good to repeat: opening hours every Friday, a weekly tip or series, the monthly offer, a reminder before a regular event, a "new here? start with this" post, an evergreen link to your best guide.
  • Write versions: the same words every week read as a bot, and networks flag repeated posts. Three to five versions of the text, used in turn, keep it fresh.
  • Not for news: anything with a date, a price that changes or a limited stock belongs in a one-off post. For posts that come from your blog, an RSS feed turns each new article into a post on its own.

How PostWire runs a recurring post

  • Occurrences are real scheduled posts: up to 7 days ahead (at most 14 at once) in your queue, each editable or cancelable alone.
  • Never late: an occurrence whose time passed while the publisher was not running is not posted late.
  • Same checks as any post: each network's length and media rules, your brand's approval rules, a key's limits, X credits and the plan's monthly posts.
  • Daylight saving: a time that does not exist on the day clocks go forward runs that much later (02:30 → 03:30); a time that happens twice runs the first time.
  • Rules: every 1-52 days, weeks or months, 1-4 times a day, until a date or for up to 1,000 times.

How many recurring posts each plan has

  • Starter ($9 a month, 3 businesses): 25 recurring posts at a time.
  • Pro ($29 a month, 10 businesses): 100.
  • Agency ($99 a month, 50 businesses): 500. Scale: 2,000.
  • Free: no recurring posts. It does have bulk upload (20 rows from a CSV) and 1 RSS feed, with 3 posts waiting in the queue at once.

What it does not do

PostWire does not pick old posts from your profile and repost them by itself, and it has no content library with categories: a recurring post is the rule plus the texts you give it. It does not rewrite the text with AI on each occurrence; write the versions once (an AI assistant can draft them with generate_posts) and they rotate.

Questions people ask

How do I make a social media post repeat every week?

In PostWire open Automate → Recurring, pick the networks, write the text, choose Weekly and the weekday and time, and press Start it. Each week's post appears in your queue up to 7 days ahead.

Can a recurring post use different text each time?

Yes. Add versions of the text (up to 50) and they are used in turn: 1, 2, 3, 1… The Next posts preview shows which version each date will use.

Will networks flag a post that repeats?

They can: networks flag repeated posts and X refuses an identical one. PostWire's duplicate guard skips a network where the same text went out in the last days you pick (3 by default), and versions of the text avoid the repeat in the first place.

Can I edit or skip one occurrence?

Yes. Each occurrence is an ordinary scheduled post in your queue: edit or cancel it alone. Editing the recurring post changes every waiting occurrence except the ones you edited by hand.

Can I repeat a post on the last day of every month?

Yes. Choose Monthly and the last day; a day the month does not have, such as the 31st in April, also falls on the month's last day instead of being skipped.

Is it on the free plan?

No. Recurring posts are on every paid plan, from Starter at $9 a month (25 at a time, 3 businesses). The free plan has bulk upload from a CSV and 1 RSS feed.

Can I set up recurring posts from the API or an AI assistant?

Yes. POST /api/recurring takes the networks, the text or variants and the rule; AI assistants connected through PostWire's MCP server use create_recurring_post. Both return the next occurrences and any warnings.
